The 5-year increase
The maximum age for every Group 4 post and every category went up by five years after the notification came out. TNPSC renotified para 4.1 under G.O.(Ms) No.68, Human Resources Management (S) Department, dated 30 October 2026, and announced it in press release 127/2026 on 4 November 2026. The minimum ages did not change. Pages that still show 30 for Others, or 32 and 35 for reserved communities, are showing the old limits.
Applications closed on 8 November 2026 (Addendum 11B/2026), so this page and the checker explain the rule for this cycle. They do not reopen it.
How the age is counted
- As on 1 July 2026. Every limit is tested on that date.
- Minimum: “should have completed”. On 1 July 2026 you must already be 18 (or 21, or 25, depending on the post).
- Maximum: “should not have completed”. For a maximum of 35, you must not yet be 35 on 1 July 2026.
- “No maximum age limit” still means you must not have completed 60 on 1 July 2026, or at the time of selection or appointment (para 4.1.4).
Group 4 age checker

Others (not a reserved community)
Candidates who are not SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) or BCM. Maximum ages after the amendment:
- Persons with benchmark disability: 45 (50 for Executive Officer Grade IV; not applicable to the Forest posts).
- Ex-servicemen: 48 for most posts. For the Forest posts, a person discharged from the Army, Navy or Air Force must not have completed 35 after deducting the period of service.
- Destitute widows: 40 for most posts and 45 for VAO. Under Addendum 11A/2026, a destitute widow in the Others category with a qualification higher than SSLC has no maximum, except for VAO and the Forest posts.
- Government service: candidates in the Others category with five or more years of service in a government cannot apply, even within the age limit.
Reserved communities
SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) and BCM. Maximum ages after the amendment:
- # — no maximum with a higher qualification. Candidates from these communities who hold a general educational qualification higher than SSLC have no maximum age (still under 60). This does not apply to VAO or the Forest posts (para 4.1.3).
- Posts with no maximum age for reserved communities include the Junior Assistant posts in several corporations (codes 3521 to 3848 in the notification), Bill Collector 3214, Typist 3817, Steno-Typist 3672, Senior Laboratory Assistant 3746, Laboratory Assistant 3103 and Sales Assistant 3806.
- Persons with benchmark disability: 47# (BC, BCM, MBC/DC) and 50# (SC, SC(A), ST) for most posts; 55 for VAO; 52# and 55# for Executive Officer (Grade IV).
- Ex-servicemen: 53 (53# for most posts). Destitute widows: 40# for most posts, 45 for VAO.
