The tentative answer key is due on tnpsc.gov.in within six working days of the exam on 10 January 2027. TNPSC has not announced a date. The notification sets out these steps:

How long it took in past years

In the last three Group 4 cycles the tentative key came 8 or 9 days after the exam, and the final key came months later. These dates are from TNPSC’s answer keys page; the day counts are our own arithmetic.

The past tentative key PDFs on TNPSC’s answer keys page include the full question booklet, so they double as official past papers (we checked this for 2025). They follow the old syllabus. More on that in our guide to Group 4 previous year question papers.

How to challenge the tentative key

You challenge a tentative answer only online, through the “Answer Key Challenge” window on tnpsc.gov.in, within seven days of the key being published.

  • Where. On www.tnpsc.gov.in, under Recruitment, then Answer Keys. TNPSC says detailed instructions are on its website.
  • How. Online only. Representations sent by post or e-mail will receive no attention, and neither will any sent after the window closes.
  • What happens next. Challenges sent in time go to a committee of experts in each subject. The final key is decided on its recommendations, and answer sheet evaluation starts after that.

How Group 4 marks are counted

Every correct answer is worth 1.5 marks, and a question left blank costs 0.5 mark. The paper has 200 questions for 300 marks: Part A (Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test) has 100 questions for 150 marks, and Parts B and C (General Studies and Aptitude) have 100 questions for 150 marks.

  • Correct answer: 1.5 marks.
  • Wrong answer: 0. There is no deduction for a wrong answer.
  • Option [E], “answer not known”: 0, with no deduction.
  • Left blank: the notification says “0.5 mark will be deducted from the total marks” if no bubble is darkened for a question. We read this as 0.5 for each blank question. The full rule is in our negative marking guide.
  • More than one bubble darkened: that answer is not evaluated.
  • The Part A gate: Parts B and C are evaluated only if you score at least 60 of 150 in Part A. The minimum qualifying mark is 90 of 300 for all communities.

Two other deductions are not in the calculator below: 2 marks for writing the register number wrongly on a non-personalised OMR sheet, and 0.5 mark if the left thumb impression is missing. A completely blank OMR sheet is invalidated.

Group 4 marks calculator

Unofficial estimate. TNPSC’s final answer key and its own evaluation decide your marks. Check your answers against the official key first.

The formula

Part A marks = 1.5 × Part A correct

Parts B + C marks = 1.5 × Parts B and C correct (counted only if Part A is at least 60)

Total = Part A + Parts B and C − 0.5 × all blank questions

Example: 70 correct and 2 blank in Part A, 50 correct and 2 blank in Parts B and C. Part A = 105, so the gate is met. Total = 105 + 75 − 2 = 178 of 300.

One assumption, stated plainly: the calculator judges the 60-mark Part A gate on Part A marks before blank deductions, because the notification says the blank deduction comes off the total. TNPSC has not said in which order it applies them. If a final key accepts more than one option for a question (the 2025 final key had some keyed “ALL” or “B/C”), count your answer as correct if it matches any of them; that is our reading, not a TNPSC rule.

Questions people ask

When will the TNPSC Group 4 answer key 2027 be released?

It has not been released yet. TNPSC's rule is that tentative answer keys go up on tnpsc.gov.in within six working days of the exam, and the Group 4 exam is on 10 January 2027. In 2022, 2024 and 2025 the tentative key came 8 or 9 days after the exam.

How do I challenge the TNPSC Group 4 tentative answer key?

Only online, through the Answer Key Challenge window on tnpsc.gov.in (Recruitment, then Answer Keys), within seven days of the tentative key being published. TNPSC says representations sent by post or e-mail will receive no attention.

When does the final answer key come out?

After a committee of subject experts has looked at the challenges. The notification says the final key is published before the result. In past cycles this took months: the 2025 final key came on 17 November 2025, the 2024 one on 9 January 2025 and the 2022 one on 10 October 2023.

How are TNPSC Group 4 marks calculated?

Each correct answer earns 1.5 marks, so Part A is out of 150 and Parts B and C together are out of 150. A wrong answer or option [E] earns nothing and loses nothing. A question left blank costs 0.5 mark from the total.

What is the minimum mark to qualify in TNPSC Group 4?

At least 60 of 150 in Part A, or Parts B and C are not evaluated, and at least 90 of 300 in all for every community. These are minimums, not cut-offs: selection is by rank on total marks.

Is the marks calculator on this page official?

No. It is an unofficial estimate made by Nextstep4u, which is not connected with TNPSC. Your real marks depend on TNPSC's final answer key and its own evaluation of your OMR sheet.

The habit of never leaving a bubble empty is easiest to build on full papers under real timing. Each test here ends with a report on the sub-topics costing you marks.
